Batteries Nikon F2

What kind of battery or batteries do I need for a Nikon F2?

The Nikon F2 requires two SR44 silver oxide batteries or LR44 alkaline batteries to power its light meter. Originally, it used Mercury PX625 (MR-9) 1.35V batteries, which are no longer available due to environmental regulations.

Alternatives:

  • Two SR44 silver oxide batteries (1.55V each) – Recommended for better voltage stability.
  • Two LR44 alkaline batteries (1.5V each) – A cheaper alternative, but voltage may drop over time.
  • One CR1/3N lithium battery (3V) – This is essentially two LR44s in one package.

If you need precise meter accuracy (since the original mercury batteries were 1.35V), you can use a Wein Cell MRB625 or a voltage step-down adapter like the C.R.I.S. MR-9 adapter, which allows the use of modern batteries while matching the original voltage.
